PHILADELPHIA, MS. (Apr. 29, 2026) — Marty Stuart’s Congress of Country Music unveiled four new murals in downtown Philadelphia on Saturday, April 25, continuing its effort to celebrate country music’s legacy through public art and community engagement.
The latest installations — Glen Campbell’s “Sunflower“, Ricky Skaggs’ “Will the Roses Bloom“, Crystal Gayle’s “Rose Between Two Thorns“, and Bob Ferguson’s “On the Wings of a Dove“— are inspired by signature songs and reflect the artists’ influence as well as the cultural heritage of the region.
“There is something powerful about putting these stories on the walls of a town like this,” said GRAMMY-winning artist and Philadelphia native, Marty Stuart. “It reminds you that country music comes from places like Philadelphia, and from people who lived every word of those songs.”
The unveiling included a walking tour through downtown featuring live music, remarks, and cultural performances, drawing community members, artists, and supporters. The initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance Philadelphia’s position as a hub for authentic country music storytelling and cultural preservation.
“This project brings people together in a way that’s real and lasting,” said Shawn Byars, director of the mural initiative. “Every mural tells a story, but more importantly, it creates a moment that connects people.”
The series remains a central component of the Congress of Country Music’s long-term development plan, with additional mural installations planned ahead of the anticipated opening in 2027.
