SCROOGE (National General Pictures, 1970)

Charles Dickens’ classic tale of an old miser who finds the Christmas spirit is retold in this wonderful movie musical.  Albert Finney and Sir Alec Guinness star, and the music is by Leslie Briscusse (“Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory” and many others).  A great story of loss and redemption that will bring a smile and a tear.  Color, 113 minutes.

WHITE CHRISTMAS (Paramount, 1954)

A couple of ex-GI hoofers put on a show to help out their old commanding officer.  Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye are former soldiers, and Rosemary Clooney and Vera Ellen are the sisters they fall for.  The greatest Christmas musical of all time with songs written by Irving Berlin.  Another movie that will bring a smile and a tear, and the uncontrollable urge to sing-along. Color, 120 minutes.
